Unix time, sometimes referred to as POSIX time, is a system for representing instants in time, defined as the number of seconds elapsed since midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on Thursday 1st of January 1970. Unix Time is mainly used in Unix-like operating systems and many other file formats.
